The Mystery and Ministry of Suffering was the record of a message that Robert McMurdo gave in the last century. It has been reprinted on more than one occasion since it contains timeless truth that is valid for every generation. Brother McMurdo clearly shows that God has a purpose for the suffering that we pass through on earth but we as believers need to develop the right attitude to suffering to really learn the valuable lessons that the Lord is teaching us through our sufferings. Though suffering is painful at the time, Romans 8:28, “ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose,” will ALWAYS be true. If the message of this little booklet is absorbed by the reader, he/she will be well prepared to cope with the inevitable suffering that accompanies our life on earth.
Robert McMurdo was born in England on June 24th, 1858. At the age of 34 he went into full time service for the Lord. In 1917 he came to the United States where he started a magazine entitled “Light and Liberty”. Mr. McMurdo had a rich ministry in which he emphasized the unity that the Lord has formed on earth by the Holy Spirit. He visited and ministered in South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia before returning to England where he went to be with the Lord on June 4th, 1937.
