Atoning Death of the Son of God

"Without shedding of blood is no remission."
HEB. ix. 22.
We shall find this is not a mere solitary text of Holy Scripture; but the basis of all Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. It is all-important, however, to notice the position man is in, since the fall, as recorded in Gen. iii: "Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." Thus the head of the human race was driven out of the presence of God through sin. And the question is, what can give man liberty to enter that presence again?
The first man born of Eve, Cain, tried this principle.
He tried to do his duty, tilled the land as he was commanded, and brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. But he entirely ignored the whole question of sin and the curse, and utterly set aside the necessity of the shedding of blood.
