This biographical sketch of William J. Lowe will be informative reading for all those who are interested in the history of the “early brethren.” WJL was blessed with a keen mind and was especially gifted in linguistics having a practical working knowledge of ten or eleven languages.

As a young man he assisted J. N. Darby in translating the Bible into French in Pau, France. He was a devoted servant of the Lord who travelled extensively, preaching and building up assemblies, especially in continental Europe. We can still learn much from the example of one who “served his own generation” in the things of God.
