The apostle John, that tender disciple whom Jesus especially loved, wrote the Gospel that goes by his name, the book of Revelation, and three short epistles covering a total of seven chapters. In these epistles, He wrote much of the wonders of Christ who is the eternal Life. He also gave many tests of profession, for many things are wrong in professed Christianity. Only in these epistles is the term “Antichrist” used. There will be a future Antichrist, but the deceitful, hateful spirit of antichrist is everywhere today, twisting and denying the truth as to Christ! Such evil people are not even to be greeted when they come, bringing such false doctrine. True love is shown in obedience! His third epistle contrasts three men—the godly Gaius and Demetrius, and the hateful Diotrephes who loved to have the preeminence.

The author of this book is R. Evans. We know essentially nothing about him, but are pleased that he wrote down his meditations on these three epistles. We get the impression that the book was transcribed from lectures due to many incomplete sentences and some repeated thoughts. We have sought to generally make the book clearer to read without changing our brother’s thoughts. We think you will be encouraged and refreshed by reading it and by enjoying the many truths as to Christ that are brought out in it.
